There are strong bonds and much symbolism in this wallpaper, but above all, there is a great deal of warmth and love. I will try to describe how we found our way to the land of sunflowers and why the flowers are dedicated to Gittan, but first, a bit about the product.
“Sunflowers for Gittan” comes in four beautiful colorways. Originally, we created three, but when the first batch of sample prints arrived, the white had a delightfully light pink hue. We simply couldn’t resist. Now, the wallpaper is available in sky blue, the original apricot color, white, and light pink.
All our wallpapers are printed om demand to fit the intended wall(s). In practice, this means you measure your wall, and then you receive rolls numbered 1, 2, 3, etc. You don’t have to worry about pattern matching or how many rolls you need. The clever thing is that there is almost no waste. You only pay for what you need. The wallpaper has a fine, exclusive matte finish, is very durable, and is printed with non-toxic and environmentally friendly materials.
Who Was Gittan? Gittan loved our story, our world, and she loved sunflowers. She was a prima ballerina who danced lightly through life on the path of curiosity. Open to all new things, questions swirled around her like flower petals around cherry trees in spring. Her deepening compliments were never-ending. There were few limitations and an enormous openness.
As a final farewell, Gittan received sunflowers and one of our characters (Miss Selma) in the funeral program. It was too beautiful not to be shared, so it became a wallpaper. We hope that Gittan now walks in a magical garden, with majestic sunflowers watching over her, where swallows fly high, and she feels as free as they do. No pain. No fatigue.
This wallpaper is a tribute to Gittan and a reminder that playfulness and a vivid imagination know no age. We hope everyone who chooses this wallpaper feels safe under the stately sunflowers, that the sun always feels present, that imagination fly high, and that the little animals always provide company.
I asked my neighbour Lisa (who is 5 years old) what she thought of the Gittan wallpaper. She said:
“Very big flowers and a nice bunny. I would like to have it all over my house.”
